This Saturday, 23rd April is St George’s day. St George is England’s patron saint. According to legend he was a soldier in the Roman army, who allegedly killed a dragon and rescued a princess.
The emblem of St George was adopted by Richard the Lion Heart and was introduced into England in the 12th century.
Our patriotic national English flag is a red cross on a white background. It has become very evident at sporting events, especially within the past 20 years.
With the Queen’s 90th Birthday and St George’s day all in the same week, together with the weather turning warmer, all of our thoughts turn to celebrations, and being in the great outdoors.
As English traditionalists we love all things quintessential. Therefore what better way to spend a lovely spring afternoon, than relaxing, and picnicking under the trees, listening to the birds chirping, eating your favourite food and having sumptuous afternoon tea and cakes or, of course, something stronger if you prefer.
What would be even better if you celebrated these events with your family and friends? Our Redroutemaster buses can seat up to 72 passengers.
We will pick you up and drop you off at times suitable to you and your party. We could even take you to a proms event, or to a beautiful part of the English countryside or parkland.
Imagine setting off on one of our gorgeously kitted out Redroutemaster buses.
After all, they are bright red; red buses, red and white St George’s flags and even red and white bunting. Your party could dress up too and you could all attend a Last Night of the Proms event.
Grab some song sheets with Jerusalem, Rule Britannia, Land of Hope and Glory and God Save the Queen etc., and away you go.
Don’t forget you are doing this all in the name of that brave patron saint, St George, who slayed the dragon and rescued the princess!
Whatever you’ve got planned this weekend, have a great time!
